Custom Jewelry
I started creating jewelry in my 20s after a series of life events allowed me to focus on my creative side. I found a class on the ancient technique of granulation that the Etruscan goldsmiths of 8th century BC introduced to the world. The alchemy of alloying your own 22kt gold, hand rolling sheets of gold, and drawing down gold wire to create your materials was so powerful.
My hand-made pieces are inspired by my love of antiquities especially Etruscan and Roman, the arts and crafts style of architecture, and the influences of different cultures especially China, and religions that I have seen through my travels. I love using found objects d’artes, Asian artifacts and antique pieces, and repurposing them in my jewelry. My creative process is to look to the symbolism and spirituality in the different materials and objects. I then personalize my pieces to represent aspects of what I wish for the wearer, such as Moonstones for the Goddess within, a peacock to represent dignity and grace, Chrysoprase for a connection to nature or Rhodalated Garnet for the heart chakra and self- worth.
Zannier Studios’ namesake represents all the powerful women in my life that have influenced me. The Peony in the logo was my grandmother’s favorite flower and the official flower of China. For me, the Peony represents good fortune, love, prosperity, and the symbol of the material world and the here and now. For me, it seemed the perfect symbol to blend my old family with my new family.
